Mathai Mammen (born August 7, 1967) founded a pharmaceutical company called Theravance in 1997 based on work in graduate school, and is currently Senior Vice President, head of research.

Mathai grew up in a family of four, with a sister two years younger
Mathai was born in Vellore, India, but spent most of Mathai's childhood living in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada.

Mathai is currently Senior Vice President of Research at Theravance, Inc, a pharmaceutical company that he founded in 1997.

Mathai is married and has three children (Mathew b 12/00, Mia b 7/04 and Madelian b 8/07) and four pets (all chickens b 6/07 Yolanda, Chip, Fluffy and Blackie)
Mathai enjoys participating in many sports, outdoor activities and reading, and hanging out with his family
