Whitey Park (4/2006 - 5/8/2008)

Whitey Park passed away on 5/8/2008 at approximately 5PM PST. Although her exact age is not known, she was over 2 years old. Whitey is survived by her companion Cutie Pie Park who is confused and saddened by Whitey's sudden departure. Cause of death is unknown but it is believed that Whitey passed away due to a heart attack, most likely caused by her sedentary lifestyle and extraordinarily large appetite.

Whitey was a female guinea pig, with gray and white fur. She was the first pet of Madeline Park and Adrienne Park.

[edit] History

Whitey and Cutie Pie were Madeline and Adrienne Park's first pets. To be totally precise, Madeline and Adrienne had 2 guinea pigs before Whitey and Cutie Pie. But they only had these guinea pigs for one day. They were both male and very aggressive. We returned the guinea pigs to Petco because they fought and mounted each other too frequently and we wanted calmer pets.

We decided to buy 2 female guinea pigs instead, hoping they would be more friendly. Madeline named the mostly white and gray guinea pig Whitey, and she named the orange, white, and black, long haired, skittish guinea pig Cutie Pie. Whitey had an unusually large appetite and we began to notice her gaining weight rather quickly. We received a surprising call from a vet telling us that Cutie Pie was not female, and that Whitey was pregnant. Whitey had 3 baby guinea pigs. We complained to the Petco that they gave us a male guinea pig when they told us we were getting 2 females. The store manager replied, "We are not veterinarians. We don't guarantee gender." After much complaining, Kara Park convinced the regional sales manager at Petco to pay for the bills to spay Cutie Pie and also to take back the baby guinea pigs.

Whitey and Cutie Pie were close friends and lived happily together in their cage.

Alex and Buffy Poon had the pleasure of taking care of Whitey during Park family vacations. They are also saddened by Whitey's passing.[1]

Whitey will be missed but we believe she is in a happier place now, munching on fresh fruit and running in the wild.
